Kathleen M. Nevins was born in Hartford, Connecticut, and is a life-long resident of this state. She is the managing partner of the law firm of NEVINS LAW GROUP LLC, located in East Hartford, Connecticut. She is dedicated to representing individuals, families and businesses. Attorney Nevins practices in the following areas: general civil litigation, criminal defense, business consultation, personal injury, contract law, insurance law, workers' compensation, family law (including divorce, adoption, custody disputes, representation of minors), real estate closings and litigation, estate planning, probate matters, landlord-tenant matters and juvenile law.
Prior to forming NEVINS & NEVINS LLP (currently NEVINS LAW GROUP LLC) in 2001 with her partner, and uncle, Albert E. Nevins, Jr., Attorney Kathleen Nevins worked for several years as an associate with a Hartford-based firm, practicing mainly insurance defense, including medical malpractice, personal injury and workers' compensation. Before that time, Attorney Nevins held several positions within a major insurance company, in its property & casualty division, in its subrogation and recovery department, and in its reinsurance division.
Attorney Nevins earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Connecticut where she graduated magna cum laude and was a member of Phi Beta Kappa and Golden Key National Honor Society. She did an internship at the Connecticut Office of Adult Probation and also pursued foreign studies at Saint Patrick's College, Ireland. Attorney Nevins received her Juris Doctorate from the University of Connecticut, School of Law, where she was initiated by Ellsworth Inn as a Member of Phi Delta Phi and also served as a Charter Member of the Insurance Law Journal.
Attorney Nevins was admitted to practice law in the state of Connecticut in November, 1996, and in the U.S. District Court, District of Connecticut in November, 1998. She has experience litigating civil and criminal matters, workers' compensation matters, family law matters, class actions and complex matters. She also has experience providing advice and counsel to area businesses and insurance companies. She is a member of the American Bar Association (Family Law and Criminal Law Sections), Connecticut Bar Association (Workers' Compensation, General Practice and Litigation Sections), and the Hartford County Bar Association. She has been recognized in the National Register's Who's Who in Executives and Professionals (2004 ed.). Attorney Nevins has lectured to numerous groups on a variety of legal topics.
In her spare time, Attorney Nevins volunteers for a number of causes. Currently she is on the board of directors of the Manchester Early Learning Center (member since 2003; VP 2005-2007; President 2007-); she is a member of the fundraising committee for K-9 Crimestoppers, Inc.; she is a member of WomenLead.
